Preparing for your Nano Appointment

Thank you for choosing to embark on your Nano Brow journey with Tanya!

I look forward to working with you to create the perfect cosmetic tattoo for your unique facial features. This service is known by many names and the techniques are always evolving. You may be looking for Microblading, Powder Brows, Hairstrokes, Combo Brows or even Ombré Brows - all are versions of cosmetic tattoo and for many clients we combine techniques in their custom design.

Below you'll find the steps of the journey, how to prepare for the service and how to care for your new ink along with videos to get a feel for the exciting process ahead!

Please read the booking policy to make sure you are eligible for the service.

  1. If you’re an existing client and ready to book Nano you can do so here or chat with me at your next appointment.

  2. If you have previous brow tattoo by another artist you must book a consultation to determine your options. You can also initially email clear well lit images of your brows to me and I’ll do my best to guide you as to your next step.

  3. If I have not shaped your brows before I highly recommend you book in for a consultation to get the conversation started, however this is not essential if you do not have a previous brow tattoo by another artist (see above). Upon booking a consultation you will receive a link to a form which answers many FAQs, please complete this form ahead of the consult to allow me time to prepare specifically for your canvas. Be sure to send photos as requested in the form also. During the consult we will discuss your desired outcome, the steps to get there and draw in a proposed design as well as tidy away any natural hair if appropriate. Alternatively you can book one of my routine brow shaping services and simply chat with me then.

  4. We begin your Nano Journey with session one; the initial appointment to lay the foundation of your brow tattoo. The appointment is allocated 3 hours, the first 45-60 minutes of which are the consultation and design process. After completing the tattooing for that day we then schedule session two 8 - 12 weeks later to reinforce and finesse these details. After each session you will follow the healing protocol for 7 - 10 days, healing balm is provided and guidance given.

  5. Between each session we will schedule you in for either threading or lamination to tidy up natural regrowth and keep your new brows looking their best. This is an opportunity to check in on pigment retention and discuss ongoing design aspects.

  6. Some clients require a third tattoo session, for example if we are rebuilding an entire brow, this will be discussed at the 4 week tidy up after the second session has healed.

  • Do not tan or have a sunburnt face two weeks prior

  • Do not have any type facial within two weeks prior

  • Do not work out the day of the session

  • Do not have Botox within 3 weeks prior

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)

  • Do not drink alcohol 24-48 hours before your tattoo (in order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor pigment deposit)

  • Do not consume caffeine directly before your appointment

  • Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen on the day of the service (unless otherwise advised by your doctor) - we want to minimize bleeding during the service

What to expect during the appointment:

  • You will be laying down on a comfortable esthetics bed

  • The technician will apply pressure and stretch to your brow area to increase accuracy

  • It is common to feel the need to sneeze & get congested as pressure is applied

  • Topical anesthetic is applied once initial markings are made

  • A warming sensation is common during and immediately after cosmetic tattoo

  • A bright light will be over your face the whole time

  • Pure alcohol is used pre treatment to clean the area.

  • Your skin may reach a level of sensitivity where it starts to push out new pigment, at which point we will stop the treatment and target those spots first in the touch up appointment.
