Tanya brought Eyebrow threading and Full Face Threading services to Canmore, AB in 2015. Eyebrow Threading is an ancient art originating in India & Iran up to 6000 years ago.  Tanya would always wait to visit her hometown of Luton, UK to seek out the specialty service where there’s a large Indian community with generations of experience & skills. Initially Tanya’s clientele in Canmore was made up of other English & Australian transient workers who also missed the service that was widely available at home, it was a hit! Threading has grown in popularity in North America and as the most established provider Tanya and her team at Valley Brows are where the communities go to for all things Threading in Canmore.

What are the benefits of Threading?

Many devotees to threading will let you know it gives a very clean finish with minimal redness. Threading facial hair including that fine layer of peach fuzz leaves incredibly smooth skin, a more glowing complexion and a great base to apply products over top of.

As a community concious of our environmental impact eyebrow threading has very minimal waste, quite literally just a short length of cotton thread per client.

As with any hair removal method you will feel the moment the hair is taken and everyones perceived feeling is individual to them but threading removes the whole hair right from the follicle and in it’s most simple comparison is similar to fast tweezing. Without the need for heat or sticky formulas and removal strips only the hair itself is affected when threading, the surface of the skin is held taught & only minor redness is seen on some clients skin for minimal time.

Does Threading Hurt?

Can Threading be done on body hair?

While it is possible to remove any hair with threading it is not efficient for very large areas. Most typical application is facial hair threading. Most popular other than eyebrow threading is lip threading followed by cheek, chin and forehead hair line - this would be booked as ‘full face threading’ and the actual areas targeted are discussed with each individual.

It is ideal to thread on clean skin but it can be performed with make up on too if you’re stopping in for a midday appointment. We cannot perform threading over broken skin, any cuts or skin irritation must be healed before scheduling an appointment. We typically guide you in how to assist us with stretching your skin, the stretching helps with precision and comfort. Be prepared that make up may smudge, there may be a little redness, your eyes might water and sometimes the sensation of hair removal makes you want to sneeze! We recommend that you don’t touch the area for at least 30 minutes after threading, this will allow the follicle to close and reduce the chance of visible irritation.

How to prepare for your threading appointment

how often should i get eyebrow threading?

To keep your brows as tidy as possible and to avoid the temptation of tweezing them yourself we recommend booking a threading appointment every 4-6 weeks. This is the duration of a typical hair growth cycle.

If you remove some hairs before your initial visit or between visits these will grow back on a different cycle. It may take a few visits and some self discipline to get long lasting results clean results with all the hairs on the same cycle.

Facial hair removal follows the same growth pattern but because vellus hair (peach fuzz) is very fine you might feel you can go longer between appointments. Any terminal hair (the thick dark ones we get on our chin!) might make you want to re book sooner however - it’s all personal preference like any aesthetic service
